Earlier this week, the body of Michael Donald Coates was found within Muncie Sanitary District’s wastewater treatment plant. Coates was not an MSD employee, and his cause of death has yet to be determined.
The Muncie Police Department has determined that there was no unauthorized entry at the plant, that there is no evidence of any crime having been committed at the plant, and that Coates’ body likely arrived via the sewer system.
The Sanitary District has been fully cooperative with MPD throughout the ongoing investigation. Any questions or information should be directed to MPD.
