Update on Levee Improvements and Log Jam Removal at the Fallen Heroes Memorial Bridge Part 2

Update on the levee Improvements and log jam removal at the Fallen Heroes Memorial Bridge in downtown Muncie. The log jam has now been moved from under the bridge to an area where our Peterson claw trucks can get easier access to them for removal. They have begun removing the logs and taking them to ECR to become mulch. Some of the logs are so long that they will have to be cut before transport. The newly constructed access road has made everything a lot more accessible for proper equipment and will help tremendously with long-term maintenance. A crew is currently laying down a coconut coir erosion control mat along the levee to help stabilize it and prevent future erosion. It was seeded with Kentucky 31 tall fescue grass and annual rye for quick root growth.
