Magazines - Books -Paper

Will take all magazines, phone books, soft and hard-bound books, office paper, etc. 

Corrugated and Paper Board Packaging

Will take all cardboard and paper board packaging including cereal, pizza, and gift boxes - appliance-type boxes and shipping cartons. Flatten to save space. 

Aluminum - Recycling 1 ton of aluminum saves 95% of the energy and the imported ore needed to produce new aluminum from raw materials.

Will take all aluminum -- beverage and food cans, pie plates, foil, etc.

Aluminum siding and other large items can be taken directly to the Transfer Station of East Centennial. 

Glass - Recycling 1 ton of glass saves over 9 gallons of fuel oil, reduces water by 50%, mining waste by 79%, pollutants by 14% -- plus, silica sand, soda ash, and limestone. 

Will take all clear, brown, and green glass -- beer and wine bottles -- all sizes of glass food containters, etc. 

Mirrors, ceramic mugs, plates, crystal, light bulbs, window glass, etc.

These materials will still be taken from Muncie's sold waste stream and crushed and used for other useful purposes. 

Plastic Bottles & Jugs - Can be recycled into clothes, paint brushes, park benches, flower pots, fiber for pillows, garbage cans, etc.

Nos. 1 -7 Plastic Containers -- Soda, juice, shampoo, water, and liquor bottles -- milk jugs -- bleach, detergent and dish washing liquid containers -- margarine and butter tubs and other plastic packaging, etc. 

PVC pipe -- oil, antifreeze, pesticides, herbicides, and other hazardous waste containers. 

Tin & Steel Products - Recycling a ton of steel saves 10 million BTU's of energy, 2,500 lbs. iron ore, 1,000 lbs. coal, 40 lbs. of limestone.

Soup, coffee, fruit and vegetable cans, aerosol cans, empty paint cans, etc. 

Large tin and steel materials can be taken directly to the Transfer Station on East Centennial Avenue. 

Partially filled paint, solvent, and oil cans -- pesticides, herbicides, and other hazardous waste containters -- needles, etc.
